Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating and for some people this is a particularly troublesome medical condition. It can be significantly improved using BOTOX.

Procedure

After a full assessment the treatment is given by a number of injections into the skin of the axilla and improvements are noted within one week. BOTOX blocks the nerve endings reducing sweating and as the nerve endings re-grow the effect gradually wears off. Extensive clinical research has shown that the effect can last 4-10 months, after this period, re-treatment will be necessary.

There are a number of side effects and these may include:

Localised pain/tenderness/bruising at the injection sitesAn increase in non-axillary sweating (approximately 5%)Weakness in the arm (less than 1%)Itching

Please see our page on BOTOX for more information about the product and contraindications.
